Because of its altitude, over 1400 metres above sea level, and the surrounding peaks reaching just over 3000 metres, Ischgl can pretty much guarantee snow throughout the season. Nestled in the heart of the Tirol region it boasts one of the largest ski areas in the Eastern Alps. This is why Ischgl ski holidays are very popular.
There are over 65 different runs here and although leaning more towards the intermediate skier, with 43 red runs over 206 km, the novice with 13 blue runs over 69 km while the expert gets 9 black runs over 54 km. So as you can see there is plenty of choice for all levels and abilities.
There are 42 lifts here in the form of cable cars, chair lifts, drag lifts and gondolas which are capable of moving 73,255 people per hour. The resort also boasts over 650 snow cannons which can be used in the event of no snow. However this is pretty unlikely given the altitude. Ischgl is also one of the snowboarding meccas as the terrain and the altitude are simply perfect.
